If emails are an indivisible part of your online correspondence with business colleagues or relatives, it would be better if you used an email account with your own personal domain and a mail service provider that offers support for the IMAP and POP3 email retrieval protocols, rather than resorting to a web-based email service that involves limitations in regards to the size of the attachments. In this way, you will be able to check your emails on any desktop or mobile device using any client software – Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, and so forth. With the IMAP email protocol, you will be able to view the email messages locally at your end, but they will be on the server at all times, while with POP3, all email messages will be downloaded to the device, unless you choose a copy to be stored on the mail server. Additionally, you’ll be able to use many other handy options – contact groups, calendars, and so on, not to mention that in case there is a brief problem with your Internet connectivity, you can still check your emails since they will be on your desktop or mobile device.
